I have a Labyrinth question for the savvy/opinionated/creative types out there. I've been working on a strange crossover Fanfiction that I started revamping because I realized I hadn't been looking at things from Jareth's motivations so I have to ask:
Can Jareth manipulate someone that does not know him... Sarah knew the story and even, in my opinion, 'invoked'/summoned Jareth. If he has an ear out can he maneuver any wish, or does his Power lay solely in Belief?

I would say it all depends on his mood. He probably only acts on belief, because belief gives him power, a little anyway, until the believer realizes that he can be real without power over them. But, if he chose, I would say he could answer any wish, as long is it was "the words" All really depends on his mood, in my opinion.

Was Sarah's story to Toby true - had Sarah been given special powers by Jareth because he was in love with her? Is that why my - "I wish the goblins would come and take me away" never works! Or was that a part she made up... because once she's in the Labyrinth, she never seems to act like she realises what he feels for her...but then, neither does he really, till they get to the ballroom..
Oh, I'm just confusing myself here... here, have a peach for putting up with me...

She was quoting the story from the book {she was as hooked on that as we are on her story} and all she got, for the most part, was that he was going to turn her brother into a goblin. When Luna explained a part of the "As the World Falls Down" song, she mentioned a part that meant Sarah had been repressing her lonliness, telling herself that she didn't need love. I think this is because she didn't feel she was getting any - we all saw the way "daddy" treated her. He was polite, but nothing more. He was the step-mom's puppet as far as I'm concerned. Anyway, she didn't understand what the fact that he took her brother away meant. She was only a child. But after the ballroom scene, it got a little clearer, and in the end it was clear, at least to me, that she knew how he felt to her. Hope that helps!
